Sleepin4wheel

Where to sleep in your van? This is probably one of the main questions you have when you start livin4wheel. We have been livin4wheel now for a while and we found some places that are safe and free to sleep, we will list here places that we have found along our journey.

Hi Crom & Valine, again this is AWESOME! Thanks so much for posting … Just wondering the key/legend for this: spanner – repair shop / tap – water / knife and fork – dining out are less ambiguous? Also you used google maps here I see, what the reasoning for using this besides other free apps like HERE MAPS or paid devices like TomTom? Cheers, G & L

Hey G&L, Happy to hear that you like the map! For now it’s Google maps, because it’s the easiest and most accessible solution. We are looking for another solution that includes a legend, and that can be shared more easily. As for the legend items: you are totally right!

We will be travelling the Balkan with our VW T3 and our little daughter in board in July/August and can’t wait to try some of these places. Thanks for sharing your discoveries with us!

Hey Julia, the Balkans had some amazing spots! I’m happy that you want to try some of them out too. I saw on your site that you’re also going to Montenegro. That was one of our favorite destinations. So beautiful! If you feel like sharing some of the spots you know, we’re happy to add them to the map with a link to your site. Just let us know. Have fun on your trip!

loving this map for camping spots! we’ve been on the road with our truck since December and went to Morocco first where wild camping was possible anywhere, but here in Europe it’s not as easy to find the best locations! We’re in Croatia at the moment and we’re definitely going to check out some of the spots you’ve marked on the map as we’re moving south towards Greece. Safe travels and maybe we’ll see you on the road somewhere! Mathilde & Dave

Hey Mathilde. I’m glad that you find our map useful! Your truck looks really cool 🙂 I wish you a lot of fun driving Europe and when you find nice spots that you’d like to share, we’d be happy to add them to the map too (with a reference to your page of course). Enjoy Croatia!

    Hi guys,
Im planning on buying a van ( in the Netherlands ) and giving up my full time job. Im a project planner for offshore gas platforms so Im not sure if this will translate to ditigal online work. Im thinking maybe project management , its not my main concern at the moment. Im wondering if you have any tips on buying the van .. Im looking for a VW Westfalia T4 but have zero knowledge of vans. Do yoiu have any tips or contacts in amsterdam area that could help? Also the free camping map is excellent. I hope to be making use of it soon. Thanks for all the great info. p.s. did you ship your van to south america ?

Hi Rosie, sounds like you’re having great plans! We bought our van in Germany, so no contacts in Amsterdam. One good thing about Volkswagen is that there are always Volkswagen clubs with many enthousiasts. Maybe you can find someone via the Dutch VW Club. Also check out CourageCamper, a Dutch woman living and working in a T4. She might have tips for you as well. You can also always contact us on box@livin4wheel.com if you want to know anything. Were happy to help you achieve your dream!

Hey guys, great resource. Have you thought about using ioverlander to mark these spots for future travelers, its a fantastic tool that we used throughout the Americas.
    Cheers
